Zachary is a second year Master's student at Christopher Newport University, with expected graduation date of May 2017. He earned his B.S. at Christopher Newport University in Organismal Biology. His thesis research investigates phenotypic variation in the Common Garter Snake (Thamnophis siratlis) across the southeastern portion of their range. This idea came through personal observations by Zachary of T. sirtalis in different regions of Virginia and was expanded to the rest of the southeast. Over the past year Zachary has traveled to a number of museums across the southeast measuring over 400 snakes ranging from Virginia to Florida.

After graduating, Zachary plans to get his teaching certification and pursue a career in High School education.
